For Jessica Stockholder: Rawhide Harangue Of Aching Indices As Told By Light, the artist creates a vibrant site-specific installation that plays with light and evokes place. Stockholder is known for the innovative ways in which her work breaks the boundaries between painting, installation, sculpture, architecture,

Responding to the gallery’s unique space and light, Stockholder began this project with preliminary drawings and written notes. From familiar materials (lamps, carpets, extension cords, and bright paint), she creates a world filled with energy, drama, and innovation. Always multi-layered, Stockholder’s work brings to mind the works of Henri Matisse, Kurt Schwitters, or Rem Koolhaas, and is situated somewhere between painting, installation, sculpture, architecture, and design.

Jessica Stockholder: Rawhide Harangue Of Aching Indices As Told By Light is curated by Joanna Soltan.

Jessica Stockholder is a graduate of Yale University where she serves as Director of Graduate Studies in Sculpture. Her many site-specific installations include the Site Santa Fe, New Mexico (2001–2002), and The Power Plant in Toronto, Canada (1999). She is represented by Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York City.
